Three injured as two helicopters collide at Pheriche helipad, treatment underway

Three people injured when two helicopters collided while landing at Solukhumbu's Pheriche helipad are undergoing treatment at Nepal Mediciti Hospital. The accident occurred on Tuesday.
The accident has once again raised serious questions about air safety and regulatory oversight in the Khumbu region.
The Khumbu region accounts for 70 percent of the helicopter business. However, reports say the absence of the Civil Aviation Authority and the state's presence in the area has fuelled arbitrary conduct by airline companies and pilots.
Questions have also been raised over whether intense competition among companies in the region is compromising air safety while the regulatory body remains a mere spectator.
