Budhigandaki flood sweeps away 6 bridges, at least 10 missing; 6 airlifted from Jagat

Floods that hit Gorkha's Budhigandaki River on Sunday have swept away six bridges. At least 10 people are unaccounted for. According to Assistant Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma, the flood destroyed two motorable bridges and four suspension bridges.
The flood also swept away a Bailey bridge connecting Dharche Rural Municipality wards 1 and 3. The camp of the under-construction 341-megawatt Budhigandaki Hydropower Project at Sallери in Chumnubri Rural Municipality-3 was also washed away by the flood.
Meanwhile, six people have been airlifted from the landslide-risk Jagat area of Chumnubri Rural Municipality-6. Prime Minister Balen Shah shared this information via Facebook. They were rescued by a Nepali Army helicopter.
According to PM Shah, Nepali Army teams have been mobilized for search and rescue by both air and land. The army's rescue team has already reached the affected area. On Sunday morning around 4:30 am, a landslide blocked the Budhigandaki at Philim in Chumnubri Rural Municipality-3. The river, after breaching the blockage, caused damage in the downstream area.
