Home minister directs halt to screening of censor-approved film 'Panch Pandav'

The Home Ministry has directed that the screening of the new Nepali film 'Panch Pandav' be halted, even though it had already received clearance from the Central Film Censor Board.
The film ran into controversy after it was alleged to have misrepresented religious subject matter. Following this, the home minister requested the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to stop its screening.
The film had been preparing to release this coming Friday. The Home Ministry's directive came just days before the scheduled release.
Onlinekhabar has described the Home Ministry's direct order to stop the screening of a film that had already cleared censorship as a 'top-down order'.
