Massive Narayani flood sweeps away structures worth crores near Narayangadh, market at risk

A massive flood in the Narayani River has swept away structures worth crores of rupees built along the riverbank adjoining Narayangadh market. Following the flood, Narayangadh market itself has been put at risk. Khabarhub has described it as the worst flood in the Narayani in 60 years.

Bharatpur Metropolitan City, together with the Industry and Commerce Association, had proposed developing the riverside area in the style of a "seabeach" to turn it into an attractive tourist destination. With the flood sweeping away the structures, it now appears that Bharatpur residents' dream of beautifying the riverbank will not be realized.

Rainfall over four days from Asoj 8 and the resulting flood in the Narayani also damaged the National Basic Primary School in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1. After the flood damaged the school's classrooms, teachers and students have been engaged in cleanup work.
