Advance warning and timely announcements reduce flood damage in Bardiya

Flood and inundation damage in Bardiya was reduced this time due to advance warnings from the Weather Forecasting Division and timely public address announcements.

After the division forecast heavy rainfall from Asoj 9 to 11, the District Administration Office immediately alerted residents through loudspeaker announcements in the settlements.

According to Chief District Officer Gogan Bahadur Hamal, major flooding was averted because security agencies were kept on standby and active coordination was maintained with local elected representatives. He said the district did not have to face the kind of large-scale damage seen in the past this time.

The administration, together with security agencies and elected representatives, had already made advance preparations in potentially high-risk areas.
