Stock market keeps falling as Nepse drops by double digits

The decline in the stock market continued on Monday as well. According to the Nepal Stock Exchange, on the first trading day of the week the Nepse index fell by about 20 points to around 2,567 points.

Along with the index, trading value also shrank. On Monday, shares of nearly 360 companies were bought and sold, with trading of about Rs 3.27 billion, which is lower than on Friday.

The share prices of about 240 companies traded fell, while only about 30 rose. Among the group indices, only the commercial group is green, while all the others are red. The finance group index fell the most. The indices of the hotel and tourism, hydropower and investment groups also fell by more than 1 percent.

Investor interest, however, was seen in debentures. The debenture price of Standard Chartered Bank rose the most, by about 6 percent. The debenture price of Nepal SBI Bank also rose by about 5 percent.

Trishuli Hydropower's share price fell the most. By value, the highest trading was in Ghalemdi Hydro, with shares worth about Rs 230 million traded. Hathway Investments is in second place.
