CPN-UML has set dates for conventions of its local-level committees. The decision was made at a Standing Committee meeting held Thursday at the party's central office in Chyasal, chaired by party chair KP Sharma Oli.
Under the decision, ward committee conventions will be held in Mangsir and municipal committee conventions in Poush. After completing these lower-level gatherings, the party has also decided to hold a national gathering in Kathmandu in the first week of Mangsir. Party secretary Mahesh Basnet provided details on the national gathering.
According to deputy general secretary Lekhraj Bhatta, four agenda items were discussed at the meeting, which concluded with plans to resume on Friday as well.
Meanwhile, former President Vidya Devi Bhandari has returned to active politics in UML after 11 years. On Thursday in Chyasal, she took an oath as a senior leader and attended the Standing Committee meeting. Shortly after the meeting ended, Chair Oli and Bhandari left the party office together.
