Landslide blocks Prithvi Highway, Trishuli erosion caves in road at Simaltal

Landslides triggered by continuous rainfall have blocked the Prithvi Highway and the Narayanghat-Mugling road.

The Prithvi Highway has been completely blocked in both directions after landslides occurred at two locations in Dhading. The landslides fell at Krishnabhir and Tingrangkhani in Dhading.

The Road Division Office, Bharatpur, said the Narayanghat-Mugling road has been blocked since 7:55 am on Sunday after a landslide with debris fell on the Namsi Khola bridge.

Likewise, at Simaltal on the same road section, about half of the road has caved in due to erosion by the Trishuli River. Following continuous rainfall, the increased flow of the Trishuli eroded the lower part of the road, causing it to cave in. Vehicles are now being operated on a one-way basis at that location.
