Congress general convention: Voting today to pick new leadership, Gagan and Shyam Krishna contest for president

Voting is underway today, Thursday, to elect a new central working committee under the Nepali Congress's 15th general convention. According to the Central Election Committee, the vote, held on the fifth day of the convention, will run from 10am to 6pm.
According to the final list of candidates, the contest for the post of party president is between Gagan Thapa and Shyam Krishna Khadgi. For the post of vice-president, industrialist Binod Chaudhary and engineer Ranjit Karna are the candidates.
Candidates have also filed for various central member clusters from across the country. From Udayapur district alone, eight people have filed candidacy for the geographic, open youth, women, Indigenous nationalities, Muslim, Tharu, marginalized, and professional expert clusters. Several journalists who have held various responsibilities in the Federation of Nepali Journalists and the Nepal Press Union have also become candidates for the central leadership.
On Wednesday, the fourth day of the convention, a closed session passed the reports.
