Himlung avalanche: Two bodies found, others still missing

Two of those missing in an avalanche on Mount Himlung, located in Narpabhumi Rural Municipality-5 of Manang, have been found dead. Police said the two bodies have been recovered.

According to Tulsi Singh Gurung, president of the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA), the bodies were found by a rescue team that arrived from Kathmandu. The association said both of the deceased were mountaineering guides, but their identities have not been made public.

Both bodies have been brought from the Himlung base camp to Chame, the district headquarters of Manang.

Conflicting figures have emerged regarding the number of people missing. It had earlier been reported that 10 people were missing in the avalanche. However, the Mountain Guide Association has said 14 people are still missing. The search for the missing continues.
