Climate Policy 2083: Over 40 organizations submit suggestions to Minister Chaudhary

More than 40 associations and organizations have submitted suggestions to Agriculture, Forest and Environment Minister Gita Chaudhary on the proposed Climate Policy 2083.

Representatives of civil society, Oxfam, the NGO Federation Nepal and others presented suggestions and advice at the ministry on Wednesday.

Receiving the input, Minister Chaudhary said the policy would move forward only after stakeholders' suggestions are studied in depth and necessary discussions are held. She said the role of youth would be ensured by prioritizing youth participation, inclusiveness and meaningful engagement across sectors in policy-making.

She said Nepal, as a country bearing the brunt of climate change, must effectively present its experience, knowledge and priorities on international platforms. Minister Chaudhary also emphasized that Nepal should play a leading role on climate change issues.
