Government to buy 15,000 tonnes of paddy worth Rs 675 million this fiscal year

The government will purchase 15,000 metric tonnes of paddy at the minimum support price during the current fiscal year. Rs 675 million has been allocated for the paddy purchase.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment shared this information. The arrangement has been made so that paddy is bought directly from farmers at the minimum support price set by the government.

Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Geeta Chaudhary has requested the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies to coordinate the purchase of 15,000 metric tonnes of paddy from farmers. She made the request with the aim of ensuring farmers receive the minimum support price fixed by the government.

The government sets a minimum support price for paddy every year to ensure farmers get a fair price for their produce.
