Home Minister Sudan Gurung is set to travel to New Delhi, India, on Asoj 26 to attend the first meeting of home ministers from BIMSTEC member countries. The Home Ministry and the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi have shared this information.

This will be Gurung's first foreign visit since taking charge as home minister. He will represent Nepal at the meeting.

BIMSTEC, formed for multi-sectoral technical and economic cooperation around the Bay of Bengal, has seven member countries: Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Home ministers of all seven member states are scheduled to take part in the meeting, where discussions on shared concerns and mutual cooperation are expected.

During the visit, Gurung is scheduled to meet Indian Home Minister Amit Shah on Asoj 27.

The trip comes as preparations are under way for Prime Minister Balen Shah's visit to India. Shah is scheduled to travel to India on Mangsir 6 and 7.
