Process begins to introduce RNP-AR landing system at Pokhara airport for low-visibility landings

The process to introduce a modern air navigation system to reduce flight disruptions caused by adverse weather and low visibility at Pokhara International Airport has moved forward.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has started a technical study to implement the Required Navigation Performance Authorization Required procedure, known as RNP-AR, at the airport.
Once the system is implemented, it is expected to reduce the problems of flight diversions and cancellations caused by low visibility.
The preliminary study has already been completed. However, detailed design and safety assessment, among other tasks, still remain, Nepal Live reported.
