Protest against Ani Choeying's appointment as Lumbini Development Fund vice-chair, demand it be revoked

Protests have begun in Lumbini after Ani Choeying Dolma was appointed vice-chair of the Lumbini Development Fund.

On the very day the decision was made public, a large group of locals staged a protest at the Development Fund. The Lumbini Bachau Mahaabhiyan (Save Lumbini Grand Campaign) has institutionally launched a programme to bar Dolma's entry.

Raising questions about financial transparency and the legitimacy of her citizenship, the Mahaabhiyan has demanded that the government revoke the newly appointed vice-chair's appointment. It has demanded that a qualified local person be appointed to the post instead.

The Mahaabhiyan has also warned that it will launch a movement if its demand is not addressed.
