Red Cross airlifts relief by helicopter to flood victims in Chumnubri

The Nepal Red Cross Society has delivered relief supplies by helicopter to flood-affected families in Chumnubri Rural Municipality in northern Gorkha, which has been cut off since flooding on the Budhigandaki River.
The supplies were airlifted after the floods completely severed this remote area from the road network.
According to society chairman Dr. Bishal Kumar Bhandari, lentils, rice and other food items have been distributed to meet the immediate needs of affected families.
Given concerns about cold weather and shelter, blankets, tarpaulins and cooking utensils have also been distributed.
Chairman Bhandari said the Red Cross is mobilized to support affected families even during the festival period, adding that daily life for Chumnubri residents has become difficult since the floods.
The Red Cross said that although the remote terrain and difficult conditions make it challenging to deliver relief to the settlements, assistance has not stopped. The society said it is coordinating with flood-affected districts through its emergency operations and distributing relief according to need.
