Snow clearing continues on Humla's Nara pass road

Snow clearance work on the road at Nara pass in Namkha Rural Municipality-5 of Humla has entered its 12th day. Snowfall on Asoj 10 and 11, followed by two more rounds of snow, left drifts ranging from three feet to four metres deep on the road.
A large amount of snow has accumulated along a 10-kilometre stretch of the Nara area. The Hilsa-Simkot road project began clearing the snow with a single excavator from Asoj 21.
According to project engineer Kushal Bhusal, the work had not been completed even by Sunday because only one excavator is available. Only a few more metres of snow remain to be cleared.
There is pressure to open the road quickly for locals who want to return home to celebrate Dashain. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather over Karnali Province's mountainous region is mostly clear today. Partly cloudy conditions are expected tomorrow, with the possibility of light rain or snow with thunder at one or two places in the mountainous region.
