Kohli becomes fastest to 15,000 ODI runs as India win by 8 wickets

India's star batter Virat Kohli has become the player to reach 15,000 runs in the fewest innings in One Day International cricket.

He achieved the milestone during the first ODI against the West Indies at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

Kohli crossed the mark in just 303 innings. Previously, Sachin Tendulkar had touched the figure in 377 innings against South Africa in 2007.

Kohli is also the second batter to score 15,000 ODI runs. He completed his 55th ODI century, scoring an unbeaten 139 runs.

Batting first, the West Indies scored around 300 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs. The West Indies' Justin Greaves scored 101 runs.

In reply, India reached the target for the loss of 2 wickets in just 41.4 overs. Captain Shubman Gill also struck a century, completing his 10th ODI hundred.

With this 8-wicket win, India have taken a 1–0 lead in the three-match series.
