RPP's Khusbu Oli: Parliament weak on lawmaking, report card shows

Khusbu Oli, chief whip of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, has said Parliament's current session was not effective in law-making.
She made the remarks while releasing her parliamentary report card at a press conference in Kathmandu on Thursday. Oli argued that public concerns and legal debates were overshadowed as both the ruling side and the opposition remained caught up in mutual accusations.
She also accused the government of showing no interest in coordinating with Parliament throughout the session.
Oli claimed she had prioritised workers' problems, people's livelihoods, monitoring of public spending, citizens' rights and government accountability. She said she had drawn the government's attention to fuel price hikes, supply of fertiliser and gas, irregularities in agricultural subsidies, and possible tax evasion in vehicle imports. She said she had also raised in Parliament the tax imposed on ride-sharing services and issues related to health services.
