District Gold Cup: Triyuga Gold Cup begins today in Udayapur after 7 years, Sankhuwasabha Gold Cup postponed two days by rain

Ending a seven-year gap without a Gold Cup in Udayapur, the first Triyuga Gold Cup football tournament is set to begin tomorrow, Saturday, Kartik 14.

Matches will be played until Kartik 21 at the Tharuhat Udayapur Rangasala in the Hawaifield area of Triyuga Municipality-13. According to Ranjan Karki, president of organizer Gaighat Football Club, the winning team will receive 500,000 rupees in cash and the runner-up 300,000 rupees, along with a trophy and certificate for the champions.

Along with domestic teams, Georgian Youth Club from India will also take part in the tournament. The opening match will be held tomorrow at 2:30 pm, and the first-round matches will continue until Kartik 17. Organizers said cash prizes will also be given to the best players in individual categories.

Meanwhile, the Sankhuwasabha Gold Cup has been postponed by two days due to rain. Organizers shifted the dates after continuous heavy rain turned the ground at Manebhanjyang in Khandbari muddy.

According to Prakash Ghimire, president of the organizing club, the first edition of this tournament will now run from Kartik 16 to 20. Eight teams are taking part, including organizer Arun Valley Community Development Club. Here too, the winner will receive 500,000 rupees and the runner-up 300,000 rupees.
