Government to prioritize domestic materials over bitumen and asphalt in road construction

The government has put forward a policy to prioritize the use of domestic products and technology in public procurement and infrastructure construction.
The decision was made at Friday's Cabinet meeting on promoting domestic products in public procurement. With this decision, government road construction will need to look for alternatives to bitumen and asphalt and prioritize domestic materials.
Sources say the government has advanced this policy with the aim of increasing the use of domestic products and technology in the public procurement process.
The decision establishes an arrangement under which domestic alternatives must be given priority when selecting materials used in public infrastructure construction.
