The Election Commission has sent a proposal to the home ministry seeking provisions for inter-district voting and external (out-of-country) voting in upcoming elections.

If implemented, the arrangement would allow citizens to cast their votes from outside their home district or from abroad.

According to Election Commissioner Guru Prasad Wagle, the commission had submitted an initial draft on Asar 18, 2080, to consolidate seven separate election-related laws into a single law. The draft, named the "Election Management Bill," would integrate the Voter Roll Act, the Local Level Election Act and the House of Representatives Member Election Act, among others.

The draft, which had been stuck at the ministry for a long time, was revised at the government's request and sent back again on Jestha 22, 2083. Commissioner Wagle said that if the necessary law and technology are ready, such voting could be piloted at designated locations during the local-level and provincial elections.
