Leo, deployed in Bhotekoshi flood search and rescue, named Nepal Police's best dog

Leo, the Nepal Police dog deployed in search and rescue operations during the Bhotekoshi flood in Bhadau, has been declared this year's best canine. Nepal Police awarded Leo the title of 'Best Police Dog.'
Leo was declared the best at a programme organized on the occasion of Kukur Tihar at the Nepal Police Canine Office in Maharajgunj. The six-year-old Leo was deployed most extensively in search and rescue in Rasuwa and Nuwakot following the devastating flood.
On the occasion of Kukur Tihar, observed on Sunday as part of Yamapanchak, Nepal Police also performed a special worship of trained dogs deployed for security duties. Trained police dogs demonstrated various skills during the programme.
A demonstration was presented on how police dogs are deployed to search for missing persons and how they help in investigations to track down fugitives who have committed crimes. Police dogs are deployed in tasks ranging from crime investigation to disaster management.
