53 countries back Nepal's four proposals to address Himalayan crisis

Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Birajbhakta Shrestha has said that the crisis caused by climate change in the Himalayan region is not confined within the geographical boundary of any single country. Speaking in Bangkok, he stressed that the global community must work together to protect our mountains.
To tackle the impacts of climate change and manage cross-border risks, Minister Shrestha put forward four proposals to the international community through a regional dialogue. Fifty-three countries have backed those proposals from Nepal.
Minister Shrestha said that since the effects of climate-induced crises seen in the Himalayan region are not limited to one country alone, a joint effort is needed to address them. He urged the global community to cooperate on protecting the mountains.
Fifty-three countries taking part in the regional dialogue extended their support on the issue that Nepal had raised regarding the crisis in the Himalayan region.
