Congress to pick local election candidates via digital vote, list ready by Poush-Magh

Nepali Congress will prepare a preliminary list of candidates for the upcoming local-level elections through digital voting by party members between Poush and Magh. Party President Gagan Kumar Thapa shared this at a welcome and interaction program organized in Putalibazar, Syangja, on Monday.
He said the old practice of handing out or withdrawing tickets based on access at the last moment before elections would now end. The final candidates will be decided only after discussions at various levels on the preliminary list chosen by lower-level members.
According to President Thapa, candidates will be finalized two to three months before the election. He said the provision for digital voting is already written into the party statute, and the work of updating active membership will be completed within a month.
Saying the party has lost public trust, not votes, he urged leaders and cadres to reach the doorsteps of distanced voters and listen to their grievances. The party plans to make Mangsir a month of awakening and organizational strengthening, and run election-focused activities in Poush-Magh.
President Thapa said leaders and cadres who lost internal competitions or did not get responsibilities would also be given roles according to their capacity.
