The stadium, long used for football competitions, was made multi-purpose after being inaugurated by then Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Meanwhile, singer Pramod Kharel and the band Parampara gave musical performances in Assam, India, over two days on the occasion of Dashain. The programs were held in Lokhra of Sonitpur district on October 19 and in Udalguri on October 20.

In Lokhra, locals welcomed Kharel by draping him in an Assamese gamosa, while the Nepali community there greeted him with a Dhaka topi. Kharel said he was deeply moved by that welcome. According to locals, this was the first musical program in Lokhra to draw such a large crowd.
