Gyawali objects to Finance Minister Wagle's remark that 'era of anti-India nationalism is over'

CPN (UML) leader and former foreign minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has criticized a remark by Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle, who had said in New Delhi that "the era of anti-India nationalism in Nepal is over."
Writing on social media, Gyawali said there has never been an era of anti-India nationalism in Nepal. "The view held by a particular individual or group is not, in itself, an era," he wrote. "Nor does it represent the nation as a whole." He also asked which "era" the finance minister was referring to.
UML leader Ram Kumari Jhakri also took a swipe at Wagle, who also serves as a vice-chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, over his remark. "Are we doomed to be ruled by slaves and sycophants?" she asked.
Suvedi, who served as foreign affairs advisor to then prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, however took Wagle's side. Writing on social media platform X, he said he saw no reason to call Wagle's remark wrong based on its substance.
