As paddy ripens, elephant fears grip Jhapa; Armed Police launch awareness campaign

Farmers in Jhapa are increasingly worried about protecting their crops from wild elephants as the paddy ripening season approaches. Farmers are working to safeguard the paddy planted in their fields.
Meanwhile, to reduce the human and material damage that wild elephants could cause during the festival season, the Armed Police Force's Nepal No. 2 Battalion in Jhapa has launched an awareness campaign in elephant-affected areas.
Through the campaign, the Armed Police have urged farmers working to protect their crops to stay safe from the risk posed by elephants. Local residents have also been asked to exercise high caution.
Farmers have grown anxious because elephant movement tends to increase during the paddy ripening season.
