Visitors to Muktinath surge after Dashain, over 12,000 in three days

Muktinath temple in Mustang, a shared pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists, has seen a rise in devotees after Dashain. More than 12,000 devotees have visited Muktinath in just three days.
Before Dashain, the Muktinath temple was nearly deserted. After the festival, however, footfall at the temple has picked up again.
Heavy rain on Asoj 11 had triggered floods, landslides and river erosion that damaged the Beni-Jomsom road. The road was then completely closed for two weeks.
With the road reopened and the Dashain holidays underway, the number of people reaching Muktinath has increased.
