Government websites shut over cyber risk start coming back online

Government websites and online services that went down last Thursday are gradually coming back online.
Most government and public-body websites and online services in Nepal were affected after a serious security vulnerability was discovered in the code of PHP, a programming language used worldwide to build websites. The websites and services were shut down after the risk of a possible cyberattack emerged.
The disruption began during the Dashain holidays, and many government websites remained inaccessible even as of Sunday. Citizens who rely on online government services had been asking when the services would resume.
The websites and services that had been shut down are now being restored one by one. However, sources have not specified exactly when all websites and services will be fully back to normal.
