Only about 30 percent of community schools operating nationwide have established an information and communication technology (ICT) laboratory.

The detail appears in the Ministry of Education and Sports' annual report for 2082/083 BS. In other words, the remaining roughly 70 percent of community schools still lack an ICT lab.

Under the President's Educational Reform Programme, running since 2077 BS, such labs have been built in about 4,608 schools. The report states that internet access, however, has reached around 85 percent of community schools. Nearly 70 percent of schools have access to electricity from alternative sources.

According to the ministry, about 35,951 schools are operating nationwide. Of these, around 27,010 are community schools, including those of a religious nature. This school-count figure is from the most recent year. The ministry said that as physical infrastructure and access to technology increase, it helps improve the quality of teaching.
