Deuba faction completes conventions in about 90 constituencies, district conventions set for Kartik 15

The faction of Nepali Congress led by outgoing president Sher Bahadur Deuba has completed constituency-level conventions in about 90 House of Representatives constituencies.

According to the faction's leader Kiranraj Sharma Poudyal, district conventions have already concluded and new leadership has taken charge in the 9 districts that have only one constituency each. He said the remaining districts' conventions have been set for Kartik 15, by which time work in nearly all districts is expected to be completed.

Poudyal said the schedule calls for provincial conventions in all seven provinces on Mangsir 4, followed by the 15th general convention from Mangsir 21 to 23. Earlier, the proposal had been to hold ward conventions on Asoj 15, municipal conventions on Asoj 20 and constituency conventions on Asoj 23.

Leader Binodkumar Shahi said the district convention held in Dailekh on Thursday unanimously elected Dinesh Hamal as district president. In Dailekh's constituency 1, Binodkumar Malla was elected constituency president, and in constituency 2, Nainbahadur Shahi was elected constituency president.

Hamal had earlier served as co-coordinator designated for Dailekh by the convention preparation committee. The Deuba faction has so far selected leadership in 11 districts.
