The Nepali Congress will run two campaigns — distributing warm clothes and providing mental health counseling — for families in Rasuwa, Dhading and Nuwakot affected by the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli flood and landslide of Bhadra 10.

The decision was made at a meeting held Friday at the BP Smriti Bhawan central office in Lalitpur, in the presence of party president Gagan Kumar Thapa.

The meeting also decided that once the Chhath festival is over, party representatives will visit the affected villages and settlements in the three districts for on-site observation and interaction with locals.

Joint general secretary Prakash Rasaili Snehi said the meeting discussed the current situation of the affected people, their resettlement, progress of reconstruction, and delivery of public services.

Party office bearers and leaders of the parliamentary party, along with central members, district presidents, federal lawmakers and local representatives from the affected areas, attended the meeting.

He said both campaigns would be run based on the needs of the affected families, and that the party's next steps on reconstruction and resettlement would be decided after visiting the villages and understanding the situation on the ground.

The Congress said the party remains sensitive to the problems of citizens affected by natural disasters.
