Govt admits encroachment at some Nepal-India border points, withholds details
The government has acknowledged that there are problems of border encroachment and encroachment on the dasgaja (no man's land) at some points along the Nepal-India border. However, details of exactly where such locations are have not been made public.
In a written reply, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not mention the number or names of the encroached locations. The ministry said work on identifying such locations is underway through mechanisms including the Nepal-India Border Working Group (BWG).
According to the government, the mapping of the border area is still ongoing.
While the government has admitted that encroachment exists at some border points, the written reply does not include information on how much encroachment has occurred at which location.
