The 10-kilometer Kathmandu Film Festival Heritage Run organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City concluded on Sunday, with enthusiastic participation from domestic and foreign runners.

Runners, technical staff and sports enthusiasts had gathered at Basantapur Durbar Square from as early as 5 am. At 6 am, acting mayor Sunita Dangol launched the run by sounding a horn. Hundreds of runners then set off from the square, passing through Kathmandu's old squares, heritage routes and wood-carved temples.

The run was organized to promote and conserve the World Heritage Site while encouraging a healthy lifestyle among citizens. The designated quota filled up within 24 hours of online registration opening. Runners from various age groups took part.

Acting mayor Dangol said people should not just run through Kathmandu's lanes and heritage sites but connect with them through genuine experience. The metropolis has linked this run to the promotion of the Kathmandu Film Festival, to be held from Kartik 13 to 15, at which 40 films will be screened free of charge.
