NPL: Biratnagar beat Sudurpashchim by 35 runs in rain-curtailed match for first win
Biratnagar Kings have registered their first win of the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). In the match played at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Saturday night, Biratnagar defeated Sudurpashchim Royals by 35 runs.
Biratnagar batted explosively in a match that was disrupted by rain and controversy. The rain-affected game was reduced to 5 overs a side, with play resuming after the covers were removed from the ground.
Due to the poor condition of the ground, the toss was scheduled for 9 pm. However, after Sudurpashchim Royals delayed the toss, the start of the match was pushed back even after the scheduled time had passed. As the start was delayed, supporters at the ground sang in the style of deusi-bhailo.
Of the six floodlights installed at the ground on Saturday evening, one did not light up. With this win, Biratnagar Kings have opened their winning account in the tournament.
