Eight inmates escape Dolpa prison through tunnel, 150 police deployed in search

Eight inmates have escaped from the district prison in Dunai, the district headquarters of Dolpa. According to preliminary information, they fled on Friday night after digging a tunnel inside the prison.

The inmates had used two rods and a trowel to dig the tunnel. It was reported that the soil at the spot where the tunnel was dug was sandy and could be dug even by hand.

"If eight people worked together digging continuously, the tunnel could have been ready in just a day," said one person providing information about the incident.

150 police personnel have been deployed to search for the escaped inmates.
