Budget passed by Sudurpashchim provincial assembly amid Congress boycott

The Sudurpashchim provincial assembly has passed the budget for the current fiscal year 2083/84. The provincial assembly meeting held in Dhangadhi on Tuesday evening at 6 pm passed the provincial government's budget.

The assembly meeting had earlier been scheduled for 5 pm. The budget was eventually passed at the meeting that convened at 6 pm.

After a dispute over the budget intensified in the assembly, the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, had boycotted the meeting. Discussions on the budget's priorities took place in the assembly even as Congress maintained its boycott.

The assembly passed the budget while the Congress boycott was still in effect. With the budget's passage, the budget brought by the Sudurpashchim provincial government for the current fiscal year has received the provincial assembly's endorsement.
