12th Nepalgunj Marathon set for Mangsir 12, to feature races in 12 categories

The 12th edition of the Dhara Nepalgunj Marathon will be held in Nepalgunj on Saturday, Mangsir 12.

Organizers said this year's event, starting from BP Chowk, will include races in 12 categories. The main races are the 42-kilometer men's open and the 21-kilometer women's open half marathon.

In addition, there will be 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer men's and women's open races, and a 5-kilometer school-level race. The corporate, kids, wheelchair and run-for-all races will each be 3 kilometers, while the family run will be 2 kilometers.

According to race director Chandra Bahadur Gurung, electronic chips will also be given to women wishing to run in the men's marathon for a personal time, and to men wishing to improve their time in the women's half marathon. He said separate rankings will also be drawn up for various age groups above 40 in the 42-kilometer category.

Organizers said the marathon received the AIMS Social Award in Tromso, Norway, last June.
