Kathmandu Metropolitan City launches bike ambulance service

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has launched a bike ambulance service from Friday to make emergency health services more effective.
Through this service, trained health workers will be rushed to the patient's location. The metropolis said the service was started with the aim of reaching at-risk patients quickly and providing primary treatment on site.
The metropolis introduced this new bike ambulance practice in view of ambulances often struggling to reach patients on time because of traffic jams in the city. Health workers reaching patients by motorcycle is expected to reduce the time taken to begin treatment in emergencies.
The metropolis said the service is currently being run on a limited scale. Details on how to access the service and how many bike ambulances have been deployed are not mentioned in the source reports.
