Winter air pollution risk: Kathmandu metro urges residents not to burn plastic waste

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has urged people not to burn plastic waste, saying the risk of air pollution could increase as winter sets in.
The metropolitan city's Environment Department has asked the public not to burn plastic waste in open areas. Since the risk of air pollution rises during the winter season, the metro has requested people to stay away from burning waste.
According to the metro, air pollution in the valley tends to rise due to factors including smoke from vehicles. In such conditions, burning plastic waste could further increase the risk of pollution, the metro said.
Saying that everyone's cooperation is needed to reduce the risk from air pollution, the metropolitan city has urged citizens to stay alert.
