Parliamentary hearing committee endorses four proposed Supreme Court justices

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee on Saturday endorsed the names of all four people proposed as Supreme Court justices.
At a meeting held in Singha Durbar, the committee endorsed Dr Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, Chandra Bahadur Saru, Janak Pandey and Gokarna Dangi, as announced by committee chairperson Bodhnarayan Shrestha.
The Judicial Council had recommended the four for Supreme Court justice at its meeting on Asoj 20.
Bagchand was serving at the High Court in Pokhara, while the other three are chief judges of high courts.
The committee had on Thursday discussed 13 complaints filed against them, summoning both the complainants and the proposed justices. The parliamentary hearing was then held over two days, Friday and Saturday.
After the hearing, the committee found the Judicial Council's recommendation to be sound. The appointment of all four will be complete once President Ramchandra Paudel administers the oath of office.
