RSP warns of action against unauthorized candidacy claims; Lamichhane to spend Chhath in Janakpur

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Rabi Lamichhane has said he will celebrate this year's Chhath festival at Gangasagar in Janakpurdham, with a message of national unity.
Extending greetings for Tihar, Nepal Sambat and Chhath on social media, Lamichhane expressed confidence that these festivals strengthen love, harmony and trust among families, societies and communities. He also wished for national unity amid diversity to be further strengthened, and wished everyone happiness, peace, prosperity and new hope.
Meanwhile, the RSP's Koshi Province Committee has warned of action against anyone who declares candidacy for the local-level elections without a formal party decision.
In an urgent notice issued by provincial general secretary Niraj Katuwal, the committee said that applying to the "candidate club" does not guarantee candidacy. It has instructed members to stop publicizing themselves as party candidates on social media and other platforms before the selection process is complete.
The notice states that doing so will result in action under the party's statute and code of conduct. The committee made clear that those who do not comply could face expulsion from the selection process, removal from responsibilities, or even cancellation of general membership.
