The Sher Bahadur Deuba faction of the Nepali Congress, which has been holding a separate general convention after splitting from the party, has completed conventions and elected presidents in about 39 districts.

The faction has intensified district conventions ahead of the 15th general convention, said to be held in the last week of Mangsir. The Deuba group has opened a party office at Chundevi and is running parallel activities under the same banner.

According to a public list, Amar Bahadur Sendang has been elected district president in Taplejung, Krishna Humagain in Jhapa, Ramkumar Jimee in Sankhuwasabha, and Dharmaraj Rai in Bhojpur.

Similarly, Rojen Rai has become district president in Khotang, Komal Kant Jha in Dhanusha, Rajeshray Yadav in Bara, Balkrishna Basnet in Sindhupalchok, and Milan Babu Shrestha in Chitwan.

Separately, Congress president Gagan Kumar Thapa, extending greetings for Tihar, Nepal Sambat and Chhath, pledged to keep the party united and move forward.

He said the 15th general convention had been successful and expressed gratitude to everyone who had helped. Despite attempts at confusion, propaganda and encirclement, Thapa said Congress would not be shaken.

He said the party would now focus on its shared goal of "a prosperous Nepal, a respected Nepali." In his Tihar message, he stressed the need to strengthen mutual harmony and unity by cutting through the despair, distrust and division spreading in society.
