Indian national and trader arrested in Rautahat with Rs 4.464 million of unexplained source

Rautahat Police have arrested two people with Rs 4,464,605 in cash of unexplained source. They were arrested during an investigation into hundi transactions believed to be running illegally through the Nepal-India border area.

According to police, an Indian national was arrested with Rs 3 million while travelling from India into Nepal on a motorcycle. The money had been hidden in a concealed compartment (a false bottom) built beneath the motorcycle's fuel tank.

Police said the money was meant to be delivered to a trader based in Gaur. That trader has also been arrested. The combined source of the cash recovered from both of them has not been established.

Both of those arrested are under investigation. Police said the search for other individuals involved in the hundi transactions is continuing.
