Securities board releases draft rules for intraday trading in share market

The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has made public a draft of rules to begin intraday trading in the share market. The board released the preliminary draft of the "Intraday Securities Trading Rules, 2083" on Thursday.

According to the draft, investors who buy shares in the morning will be able to sell them the same day, and the profit or loss from the trade will also be settled on the same day. At present, Nepal's share market has no provision allowing shares to be sold the same day they are bought.

The board has moved ahead with the policy process to introduce intraday trading, under which shares can be bought and sold and settled on the same day. Opinions and suggestions on the draft have been invited from stakeholders by Mangsir 4.
