Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Ravi Lamichhane has said the party will not interfere in the work carried out by the government. Speaking to reporters in Chitwan on Thursday, he made clear that there is no disagreement or dispute between the party and the government.

Chair Lamichhane said the party would not blindly endorse every government decision and that "rubber-stamping" was not the party's job. He said that when necessary, the party would apply "checks and balances" to government decisions, and that discussions would continue whenever questions were raised.

Asked about the reshuffle of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), he said, "It is not a matter of whether the party is satisfied or dissatisfied; the party's position is that when the government takes steps it considers necessary to carry out its work, the responsibility to justify those steps lies with the government itself." He added that the party had not said the IGP should be changed.

Speaking about his constituency, Lamichhane said that even though he had been slow to visit Chitwan, policy should reach the whole country, not just the elected representative.
