The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has asked the government to create an investment-friendly environment and remove policy obstacles facing businesses.

A team led by FNCCI President Anjan Shrestha met Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal at the ministry's office in Singha Durbar on Thursday to discuss problems facing the private sector and possible solutions.

At the meeting, President Shrestha said the government should prioritize resolving barriers to investment expansion, administrative hassles and practical difficulties in running businesses. He also called for export promotion, faster infrastructure development and steps to boost private sector morale.

FNCCI said facilitation is needed to quickly restore industries, supply systems and infrastructure affected by the recent floods and landslides in order to normalize economic activity.

Calling the government the guardian of all, President Shrestha said the private sector is ready to boost production, exports and employment, and that this requires effective cooperation between both sides.

In response, Minister Lamsal said the government is carrying out policy reforms for economic development, prosperity and a business-friendly environment. He urged the private sector to clearly communicate its problems and the reforms needed to the government.
