Bhotekoshi flood victims spend Dashain in holding centers, over 300 families in mourning

While the country celebrates Bada Dashain with joy and festivity, this year's Dashain is passing amid pain, hardship and uncertainty for families affected by the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa.

More than 300 families in Rasuwa are in mourning following the flood that struck on Bhadau 10. After the flood washed away their homes and settlements, the neighborhoods of displaced people who lost relatives remain deserted even during Dashain.

Flood-affected families have put on the Dashain tika inside holding centers and under tarpaulin shelters. At the temporary shelters, festival-related arrangements, including swings for children, have been set up.

Various organizations and individuals are helping provide necessary supplies to those affected. But for families who lost their relatives, this year's Dashain has become a festival of mourning rather than joy.
