The Nepal Accreditation Centre, under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, has come into operation.

The centre, located in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu, was inaugurated on Wednesday by Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Engineer Deepak Kumar Sah. The ministry said the centre was established to make Nepali industry competitive, to assure consumers of quality and safe goods and services, and to help bring Nepali products to international markets.

Laboratories, medical labs, inspection bodies and certification institutions can now obtain accreditation services within Nepal itself. According to the ministry, this will reduce the time and cost involved for industrialists and businesspeople in testing and certification, while also helping improve quality standards.

The government considers the centre an important step toward industrial development and trade facilitation. Minister Sah expressed confidence that the centre would act as a milestone in reducing costs for industry, increasing consumer trust, and bringing Nepali goods to markets around the world.
